The Homesteader Axe
The Homesteader Axe
The Homesteader is a full sized axe meant for chopping, felling, and limbing. With a 4" blade, 7" head length, and 32" handle this tool weighs 2.25 lbs. making it slightly smaller than most felling axes but big enough to do the job. Forged from 4140 carbon steel, the same material used in truck axles and tempered to hold a good edge. I haft each one with a straight hickory handle because as Horace Kephart said, βIn making a new axe-helve, do not bother to make a crooked one like the store pattern. Thousands of expert axe men use, from preference, straight handles in their axes.β (because they are more accurate than the curved ones). This is the perfect axe for your needs around the house or to carry into the woods to make a bushcraft camp, or through in the canoe, on the pack horse, or keep in the truck. Each one comes with a hand stitched leather sheath and is guaranteed for life, ( the blade not the handle).
