Forged from 4140 High carbon steel. First, the eye is punched and drifted, then the blade is forged to shape. With a little clean-up on the grinder, they are ready for heat treatment. The edge is hardened and tempered to hold a good edge while the body is left "soft" to handle the shock of throwing. The tapered eye is shaped to accommodate "store-bought" tomahawk handles so if they break they are easily replaced. (Specifically, I use handles from trackofthewolf.com). Fitted with a curly maple (stained dark) or hickory (natural, see the last photo for coloring) handle. Includes a leather sheath for safe storage.
